Our 3rd beer of this series is Orabelle Belgian-Style Ale from Great Divide Brewery. The seasonal ale’s description is charming to say the least. How would it go over with our panel? Would their palettes unite, or would they be divided?

The Pour: Something to See.

Ms. Hopologist: “Beautiful head.”

Once Upon a German: “Better than my head.”

ALE-Jandro: “Good.” (Enough said?)

The Smell: Something pumpkin going on.

Ms. Hopologist: “Orangey, grapefruit nose.”

Once Upon a German: “Clean and citrus smell.”

Ale-Jandro: “Pumpkin Spice and lemony.”

Score: 4.3/5


The Color: Lots going on.

Ms. Hopologist: “Opaque blond, thick look, frothy, sediment.”

Once Upon a German: “Rich blondie.”

ALE-Jandro: “Light yellow, thick matte.”

Score: 4.6/5


The Flavor: Something for a turkey dinner?

Ms. Hopologist: “Spicy. Orange notes, coriander, cloves.”

Once Upon a German: “Full of citrus and spice.”

ALE-Jandro: “Pumpkin Spice.”

Score: 4/5


The Mouthfeel: Nice Ending.

Ms. Hopologist: “Full bodied and balanced, very yummy.”

Once Upon a German: “Ends nice with lingering bitter feel.”

ALE-Jandro: “Full bodied, lovely finish.”

Score: 4.3/5


Total Score: 4.2/5

Ending Comments

The opinions of all the participants in this review were actually not divided. This beer, in fact had a unifying factor, as we all enjoyed this beer together. Could a great beer bring world peace? Maybe this beer could.
