04-15-2016, The BeerVibe Crew

Location: The Counter. A nice, intimate locale we frequent— in our kitchen.

After filling a six-pack with individual bottles from a variety of brands, checking out at a popular Health Food Market (Whole Foods, I know you’re wondering), tossing those puppies into the icebox to cool their heels and chill under the cover of darkness for several days, the hour has finally arrived to sacrifice them to scrutiny and, ultimately, savor them. They will not suffer. They will feel no pain. You have our word.

The time is 8:30pm.

It’s a chore I could perform every night, but alas, this is BeerVibe, therefore we keep to a strict tasting schedule. The chore begins. I shall crack open a frigid bottle of, yet another, craft beer to sniff, sip, and savor all the delectable flavors vying for the attention of my bumpy taste buds. My wife, with an enhanced palate and delicate taste buds, partners with me to dissect tonight’s sacrifice.

This evening, it is Fat Head’s Head Hunter IPA touting a 7.5% ABV and an 87 IBU. It proves to be one of the most well-balanced IPA’s we’ve encountered. My wife swirls a portion in a raised glass, fills her nostrils and lungs with rich aromas of citrus, floral, grapefruit, and pineapple.

These are our thoughts.

The Pour: Perfect head, soft foam, nice trailing lace on the glass goblet.

Score: 4/5

The Smell: Rich flavors, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, bitter sweet hops, floral bouquet.

Score: 4/5

The Color: Pale blond, murky, looks like it would be easy to swim in a pool of this stuff.

Score: 3/5

The Flavor: Bursting with citrus, but nicely balance with hops, nicely reveals the pineapple, and grapefruit rind.

Score: 4.5/5

The Mouthfeel: Smooth and velvety with no wateriness, mild malt residue.

Score: 4/5

Total Score: 3.9/5

Ending Comments

The only thing better than sipping this beer, is sipping it with my best friend, my wife. This beer is as flavorful as life has been with her.
