MIA Beer Company from Doral, a suburban city in western Miami-Dade in South Florida, has been sneaking its fancy cans onto local grocery shelves and we finally got the chance to taste them. It’s M.I.A. Domino Pilsner (light-bodied German-style Pilsner lager) for this review.

6.0% ABV, 30 IBU

These are our thoughts.

The Pour: It’s Alright.

Ms. Hopologist: “Fast dissipating head.”

Once Upon a German: “Didn’t impress. Weak foam, dissipates quickly.”

Mr. De La Beer: “Small head, fades fast.”

Score: 2.5/5


The Color: Golden.

Ms. Hopologist: “Deep caramel, gold blonde.”

Once Upon a German: “Golden blonde.”

Mr. De La Beer: “Golden.”

Score: 3.5/5


The Smell: Sweet with Spice.

Ms. Hopologist: “Smells creamy and sweet, cinnamon smell.”

Once Upon a German: “Lightly malty, slightly creamy.”

Mr. De La Beer: “Light musky smell.”

Score: 3.8/5


The Flavor: Lightly Toasted Malt.

Ms. Hopologist: “Totally yummy, creamy, goes down easy, mild metallic taste.”

Once Upon a German: “Mildly spicy with clove notes and honey, not too hoppy, light toast.”

Mr. De La Beer: “Mild bitters, very light toast.”

Score: 4/5


The Mouthfeel: Not Too Heavy.

Ms. Hopologist: “Medium mouthfeel, medium body.”

Once Upon a German: “Medium body, refreshing smooth ending.”

Mr. De La Beer: “Light, smooth texture.”

Score: 4.3/5


Total Score: 3.6/5

Ending Comments

Well, it certainly was worth trying. The subtle yet refreshing flavors definitely make this Pilsner great for hot Miami weather.
